The common 3.5 inch frame and coupling system provides a clean simple transition from window to patio door frame: even around 90 degree corners.   Choosing a black exterior frame colour provides a dramatic face lift to the whole building.  Aging single glazed aluminum sliders were replaced with heavily thermally broken fixed and operable casement windows to meet current code.
